The driver of a Kia Spectra received minor injuries when the Forest Ranger vehicle in which he was sitting was struck by a log truck.

The Kia had gone off the roadway on Portage Road in Nashville Plantation just after 9:30 am on Monday.

The Forest Ranger was helping Maine State Police with traffic control when the Ranger used emergency lights from their vehicle to try to shut down the roadway so a wrecker could pull the Kia back onto the pavement.

A Western Star log truck approached the scene and tried to stop, but began sliding due to the icy road conditions. The vehicle began to jackknife and hit the back of the Ranger's pickup.

The Kia's driver, who was sitting in the vehicle, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. No one else was hurt in the incident.

The Kia and the Ranger's pickup had to be towed from the scene.
