This Popular Burger Chain May Finally Be Coming to Maine
2026 and beyond, could mean big things for a fast food restaurant looking to make a run at McDonald's
I'd like to think that Bangor is a fairly modern city, we have a major concert venue, a huge casino, and plenty of fine dining options, but there are some things that are sorely missing around here, but that could all change soon!
Shake Shack has its sights set on massively expanding its popular burger chain.
The company has an impressive plan to blanket the United States, with the hopes of at least 1,500 locations.
That would mark a major increase from the current total of 350+ burger restaurants it currently runs in America, with an additional 200 plus chains spread across various countries.
Hard to believe, but as of today, they don't have a single location in Maine. You would have to go to Massachusetts, where they have 16! There is also one in New Hampshire.
The good news here, is Shake Shack is actively being courted to come to Maine, with the Maine Turnpike Authority, seeking premier brands like Shake Shack for upgrades, potentially opening locations in turnpike plazas as early as 2027, but don't get too excited, no final deals are confirmed yet.
With an expansion as big as they plan this year, and in the future, there is a pretty solid chance that the Pine Tree State will get a few of them!
Shake Shack is an American fast-casual restaurant that serves a variety of burgers, hot dogs, fries, chicken nuggets, sandwiches, soft serve and more. Their modern, sleek design pays homage to the classic roadside burger stands of the past.
Here are some of most popular menu items:
ShackBurger: A classic Angus beef burger topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce
Crinkle-Cut Fries: Thick-cut, crispy fries cooked to a golden brown
Hot Dogs: Vienna Beef hot dogs served with a variety of toppings
Frozen Custard: Rich, creamy custard available in various flavors and concrete mix-ins
