Twisted Sister Documentary Scheduled for Theatrical and DVD/Blu-ray Release
Twisted Sister fans will want to set aside some time this February to watch the documentary that tells the "mesmerizing, never-before-told story of the 10 grueling years leading up to the band’s breakout success."
Titled We Are Twisted F***ing Sister!, the film is scheduled for a one-night theatrical engagement in New York and Los Angeles on Feb. 19, followed by another one-night event at Chicago’s Music Box Theatre on Feb. 22. On Feb. 23, the film is due to arrive on DVD, Blu-ray, VOD and digital formats, with an extra two hours of bonus material and director commentary. The home version is available for pre-order now.
Directed by filmmaker Andrew Horn, We Are Twisted F***ing Sister! has been wending its way through development for roughly five years, and gained attention in 2014 when frontman Dee Snider publicly endorsed a crowdfunding campaign to help bring it to the finish line. Those efforts were ultimately successful, and last summer the film gained distribution.
"I realized as I was working on the film that it was really very much a story of how a band becomes a band," said Horn in a press release. "They are truly unique in that their overnight success actually took 10 years, so you really get to experience everything Twisted Sister went through to do it. I have to say, I don’t think I’ve ever experienced any group of musicians as ferocious ... or as funny."
