What an amazing yet tragic story of bravery and honor. 8 year old Tyler Doohan from up state New York, died while trying to rescue his grandfather from a fire that broke out in a mobile home.

As if that was not enough, before he did that he was able to wake 6 of his relatives including a 4- and a 6-year-old and get them out and call the fire department.

So moved by his bravery and selflessness his local fire fighters made him an honorary fire fighter and gave him a full fire fighter’s funeral.

Tyler’s body was found next to his grandfather. Reports say when he went back into the trailer to rescue his disabled grandfather he was overcome by the heat and smoke. The pair was later found on a bed in the back room.

Fire crews said it looked like Doohan had been trying to lift his relative when he passed out. Tyler Doohan, who was just 8 years old, was laid to rest at St. John of Rochester Catholic Church in front of hundreds of mourners.
