Acadia National Park has officially opened the entire Loop Road as of today!  The road is opening later than usual due to the recent federal budget cuts.

Last weekend the Summit Road to Mt. Cadillac opened one week early due to the generosity of area businesses, people, The Friends of Acadia and the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce.

The Hulls Cove Visitor Center is due to open this Sunday.

Acadia's Park Loop Road is 27 miles long.  The popular stretch takes locals and visitors alike to attractions like Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, the Jordan Pond House and various carriage trails.

Remember that there is a fee to gain access to the most popular areas of the Park (I remember when it was free).  An "Annual Pass" is $40, a private car or truck is $20 per week, a motorcycle is $5 per week and you can get a personal pass also for $5 for the week.  Active military can gain access at no charge with valid documentation.

We've been waiting throughout a lot of cold wet months for this, take advantage of Acadia this Spring, Summer and Fall!
