Before heating season sticks its hand in your pocket the city of Bangor is looking to show you how to give it a little slap at the Energy Expo tomorrow evening.

This event will be held at the Cross Insurance Center from 3-7 PM and is free to the public. At the event 24 local professionals and organizations specializing in residential energy efficiency will give you ideas of ways to cut your energy bills. These participants specialize in improvements such as heat pump installations, insulation, energy audits, natural gas conversions, whole house heating systems and more. In addition, representatives from Efficiency Maine and the City of Bangor will be available to discuss the various rebate programs available to help lower the cost of energy-efficiency upgrades. On the City of Bangor's webpage City’s Council Chair Joseph Baldacci says:

“Updating homes to be more energy efficient is essential to cutting energy costs rebate programs offered by the City of Bangor and Efficiency Maine can significantly lower the out of pocket costs for these projects which allow homeowners to live more comfortably, and more affordably, in their homes.”

The City Council has also taken budget steps to ensure that the Energy Smart Program in Bangor should be solvent through 2018.  The City’s webpage says that to date, 384 rebates have been issued to City of Bangor residents to help pay for energy efficiency improvements. The EnergySmart Bangor program has a current fund balance of $102,000.
