It was on this date in rock history that two driving music forces of the time met face to face.  One member of the world's most popular band said, "It was like meeting Engelbert Humperdinck."

In 1965, The Beatles took time to meet the Elvis Presley at the King's mansion in Beverly Hills.  The meeting was described as awkward.

The Fab Four walked into the living room and it was "draped in red and blue lights."   Apparently Elvis was watching his spiffy new color TV, and playing around with a bass guitar. At one point Presley was quoted as saying, "If you damn guys are gonna sit here and stare at me all night I'm gonna go to bed."

Besides Colonel Tom Parker, the buy that managed Elvis Presley, the other most famous rock manager of the time was Brian Epstein, the guy who managed the Beatles.  It was on this date in 1967 that Epstein was found dead of a drug overdose in his London home.

A more than great blues guitarist was lost on this date in 1990.  Stevie Ray Vaughan, had just finished up a show at the Alpine Valley Music Theater, East Troy, Wisconsin with Robert Cray & His Memphis Horns, and Eric Clapton.  Vaughan boarded a helicopter to Chicago, which unfortunately on the way through dense fog flew into the side of a ski slope. The Texas blues rocker was only 35.  Stevie Ray is the I-95 Artist of the Day!

It was on this date in 1991 that the Seattle based rockers Pearl Jam released their debut and most successful album, Ten.  It's sold over 13 million copies to date.

The Parents Television Council said that, "Heads should roll" after a performance by little ol' sweet and innocent Miley Cyrus at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2013.  Nobody could make any sense of the bumping, grinding and twerking that the then 20 year old performed while wearing a skin toned bikini.  And what the hell were those bears all about anyway?

Born on this day in 1953, Alex Lifeson, the fine guitarist with Rush!  Of course that means a lot to any fan of the Canadian band, but even more to fans of The Trailer Park Boys!
