Paul McCartney began work on a new song today back in 1966.  He took the name of a street that passed by John Lennon's house for the title of the song.  No, it wasn't Walrus Boulevard, although what a cool name for a street!

It was Penny Lane that McCartney began recording today for the Magical Mystery Tour album. McCartney and Lennon would catch the bus at Penny Lane Junction and take it into London.

It was on this date in 1973 that Jim Croce scored another #1 hit song with Time In A Bottle. Unfortunately he wasn't around to see it happen, as he died while a plane he was in crashed during takeoff earlier in September of that year. He was only 30 years old.

In 2010, Pollstar named Bon Jovi as the top grossing act of the year as the band pulled in over $200 million, more than enough cash for both booze and weed.  The band from Jersey was followed up by AC/DC, the band from Australia, which was followed up by U2, the band from Ireland.  Lady Gaga came in fourth, and no one really knows what planet she is from.

Rick Danko, best known as the bass player for the Band was born on this day in 1943.  The Canadian musician passed away in his sleep at the age of 55 after years of drug and alcohol abuse.  It's only rock n' roll.

Neil Giraldo, Pat Benatar's hubby, was born on this date in 1955.  It took quite a few years but Pat finally gave her guitarist husband equal billing, when on the road they now go by Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo. By the way, they've been together for thirty five years, which says a lot for the business that they're in.

More totally groovy stuff tomorrow!
