Local authorities were aghast. Totally disgusted at what they had witnessed onstage.  Mothers shielded their babies, father's hid away their daughters, and it was all in the name of rock n' roll.

It was this date in 1957 that Elvis Presley, the soon to be King of Rock N' Roll finished a performance at the Pan Pacific Auditorium in Los Angeles when he was immediately approached by the local police, who warned him not to wiggle his hips while he was onstage the following night.  The next night, the Los Angeles Vice Squad filmed his entire concert to make sure that Elvis didn't manipulate young people's minds by exuding sexual prowess from the stage.  Despite their efforts the world went to hell anyway.

In 1978 on this date Hot Child In The City hit #1 here in the U.S.  While growing up, Nick Gilder never realized that he'd grow to be a "one hit wonder," but he did. The now 63 year old is part of a band called the Nick Gilder Sweeney Todd Group and they tour throughout Canada quite often.

The Kiss picture Phantom Of The Park was shown on NBC-TV on this date in 1979.  Critics described it as being cheesy.  Did they really expect anything else?

Bon Scott, the original lead vocalist of AC/DC passed away in 1980, and it was this date in 2008 that a statue was dedicated to him in Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour in Western Australia.  Born in Scotland, Scott's family had moved to the small fishing village at a young age.  Like most rockers, he partied far too much, and died asleep in his car after a night of drinking at the age of 33. Now, instead of touring with one of the world's most successful bands, seagulls crap on him.
