Damn, there went humanity!

That's what happened on this date in 1956 when a London movie theater showed the film Rock Around The Clock, starring Bill Haley and His Comets.  Cops were called when neighbors called about kids dancing in the streets!  The following day the London Times printed a letter from one of it's readers that said this:  "The hypnotic rhythm and the wild gestures have a maddening effect on a rhythm loving age group and the result of its impact is the relaxing of all self control."

It was today in 1967 that the Beatles began to film Magical Mystery Tour.  There was no script, no clear idea, and really no idea as to what direction the bus would travel in.  Watch the movie, and you can tell.

One of the great moments in music history happened today when Donny Osmond hit #1 on the charts  in 1971 with Go Away Little Girl.  Americans rejoiced in the streets, cars were overturned, stores were looted, fornication occurred publicly and fireworks were shot off immediately following the Crest toothpaste commercial.  Donny made us proud to own radios.
