Earthquake Reported 6 Miles East of Eastport
Did you feel it? There was an earthquake Tuesday, Feb. 2, registering 3.3 on the Richter Scale just six miles East of Eastport at 6:56:24 a.m.
So far, seven people have responded to the USGS reporting they felt the earthquake. The earthquake was measured at a depth of 15 kilometers.
The last earthquake in the region occurred at 2:44 p.m on Dec. 7, 2015, registering 1.7 on the Richter Scale, 43 kilometers North of Calais.
The first earthquake centered in Maine was reported in 1817. Since then, there have been several quakes -- mostly minor -- reported in the state.
