Here we go again, another heavy rain and wind event.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for both Hancock and Washington Counties which should stay in effect until at least 4 this afternoon.  Expect southeasterly winds at 20 to 30 mph with gusts between 45 and 50 mph in places like Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, Bucksport, Castine, Machias and Eastport.

Not only will it be windy, but heavy rain is expected from Bangor to Lincoln to Eastport, with an amount between three quarters and one and one inch possible. The is the definite chance of a passing thunder storm in the area.  Even more rain is expected north of Bangor in places like Greenville, Millinocket and Lincoln. Temperatures will rise throughout this Monday, with a high of 55 degrees in both Bangor and Ellsworth by early afternoon.

With the high winds and heavy rain, driving may be a challenge, especially along the coast.  There is also the chance of power outages as trees and limbs will be under stress and could come down. Remember to never go near, drive over, or touch a downed power line.  A power line of any sort is never safe to touch.

You can report an outage to Versant Power by using the company's Online Outage Report Form or by calling them at (207) 973-2000 or 1-855-363-7211.  You can monitor any power outages in your area and view service restoration times by using Versant Power's Live Outage & Restoration Map.
