Tonight’s features artist is a musician/actor who penned a rock classic  for a movie he was starring in alongside Ringo Starr. The song although it didn’t make the movie became the artist’s only hit in the US.  Can you name the artist, song or movie??

Let’s start with the artist David Essex and English actor/musician who along with Ringo Starr was in the 1973 film ‘That’ll Be The Day’. Essex would go on to be nominated in Britain as Most Promising Newcomer in a Leading Film Role. Although ‘Rock On’ never made the movie’s final cut,it was on the soundtrack album and in March 1974, it reached #1 in Canada on the RPM national Top Singles chart and was a Top 5 song (reaching the 5 position) on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 pop-music chart. It was Essex's only Billboard Top 40 hit. The song also reached the #3 spot on the UK Singles Chart. "Rock On" was the title track to Essex's 1973 debut album.
