Tonight’s mystery artist produced an album that 10 years after its release Rolling Stone Magazine would declare it was the best album of the 80’s .  Can you guess the album or the band??

Amazingly enough and a bit sad this band is no longer together. Their music is said to have incorporated elements or reggae, funk, dub (An off shoot of Reggae), ska (A Jamaican style of music) and rockabilly.  That aside, their first designation was as punk rockers.  Hailing from England ‘The Clash’ formed in 1976 as part of the original wave of British punk rockers. And it was The Clash who’s third album ‘London Calling ‘, originally released in 1979, that a decade later Rolling Stone Magazine would dub  the best album of the 80’s. According to Wikipedia for most of their recording career the Clash consisted of Joe Strummer (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Mick Jones (lead guitar, lead vocals), Paul Simonon (bass guitar, vocals) and Nicky “Topper” Headon (drums, percussion). 1982 they reached new heights of success with the release of Combat Rock, which spawned the US top 10 hit and tonight’s featured song ‘Rock the Casbah’ achieved a 2× Platinum certification there. Their final album, ‘Cut the Crap’, was released in 1985. After some unrest in the band and rotating members what was left of ‘The Clash’ disbanded in early 1986.

Here is tonight's featured song.
