Tonight’s mystery artist had a song that had the auspicious position of being the first cut on an album of covers by Pat Boone.  Any guess who the band might be or the song.

Let’s start with the cover album cause that in itself is just plain strange. It was titled’ In a Metal Mood: No More Mr. Nice Guy’ recorded by Pat Boone back in 1997 in which he covers hard rock and heavy metal songs in a jazz big band style. He promoted the album by appearing in leather clothing and, at that year's American Music Awards, wearing a dog collar. Amazingly enough he succeeded in propelling Metal Mood onto the Billboard record charts making it Boone's first hit album in 35 years. Some of his diehard fans were not impressed. The album has since become somewhat popular as a joke gift to metal fans.  So what was the first cut? Judas Priest, 'You’ve Got Another Thing Coming'. Oh but their not alone in the honor, the rest of the album goes like this.

  1. "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" (Original: Judas Priest)
  2. "Smoke on the Water" (Original: Deep Purple)
  3. "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)" (Original: AC/DC)
  4. "Panama" (Original: Van Halen)
  5. "No More Mr. Nice Guy" (Original: Alice Cooper)
  6. "Love Hurts" (Original: Everly Brothers, popularized as a hard rock ballad by Nazareth)
  7. "Enter Sandman" (Original: Metallica)
  8. "Holy Diver" (Original: Dio)
  9. "Paradise City" (Original: Guns N' Roses)
  10. "The Wind Cries Mary" (Original: The Jimi Hendrix Experience)
  11. "Crazy Train" (Original: Ozzy Osbourne)
  12. "Stairway to Heaven" (Original: Led Zeppelin)

And now for Pat...
