Tonight’s mystery artists in an interesting interview a band leader was asked if he thought his cover of a Bruce Springsteen songs propelled Bruce’s career? Bet you can guess the band, think you know what he said??

The interview was with a Russian site called DMME with Manfred Lubowitz, or as the rest of the world calls him Manfred Mann.

Story tells how he covered Bruce’s Spirit’s In The Night which did well in Russia but Manfred was quick to point out it was Blinded By The Light that had the greatest success and that no Bruce would have done just fine without them. Nicely played.

I will say this though, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band did give the Boss his one and only number one hit with their version here in the US. So in that way they did give him something he would not have had without them.
