Zeppelin’s Robert Plant. In a biography about Led Zeppelin called “Hammer of the Gods: The Led Zeppelin Saga”, by Stephen Davis it is said to be about that romance. Given that Robert and his wife’s sister have a son together I’m guessing the fact is accurate.. Wikipedia also says about this song is that it was one of the first songs on which Page used his soon-to-become trademark Gibson Les Paul for recording The production makes liberal use of stereo as the guitars pan back and forth between channels.
