Tonight’s mystery artists were threatened a lawsuit because their hit song was similar to a song by another song writing team but it never went to court because they added them to the writing credits on the albums.  Any guess who the band is or what the song might be??

We’ll start with the song it is said to be plagiarized.  Written by a team called Holland-Dozier-Holland, their song title is  ‘Standing in the Shadows of Love’ which you may or may not have ever heard. The Four Tops probably did the most successful version. Regardless, when the writers of that song heard Aerosmith’s ‘The Other Side’’ which the album credits having been written by Jim Vallance with lyrics by Steven Tyler they called a lawyer.  ‘The Other Side’ was released back in 1990 as the fourth single from the band's highly successful album ‘Pump’.

Amazingly enough rather than be sued by the songwriting team of Holland-Dozier-Holland Aerosmith and their legal counsel I’m sure, decided to eventually give them songwriting credit on the song because of what they perceived to be similarities between "The Other Side" and their song.

Want to hear how similar you think it is? Here you go.
