Tonight’s mystery artist wrote a song from a woman’s perspective for a female performer that once recorded didn’t do that well.  The writers took it back and revamped it from a male perspective and it rose to be named the 20th greatest hard rock song of all time by VH1.  Can you guess the band or the song??

The original name of the song was ‘ If You Were A Woman And I Was A Man’ and it was written for Bonnie Tyler by Richie Sambora and Desmond Child from Bon Jovi. Dissatisfied with its success in the US and UK, Desmond Child re-wrote the song with Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora and they called it ‘ You Give Love A Bad Name’.  I think you know what happened next.

Here is Bon Jovi....

Now, see what you think of the original.
