This is actually a wasp and I was thinking what I stumbled upon was a hornets nest. I don't think I'll go back to see which it was. Here is what happened.  You know what a crazy person I am fir my bunny but you probably don't know that she loves apple leaves. Now it just so happens that I Iive within walking distance to an abandoned orchard so many a morning when I am out on my walk I swing by the perimeter and grab a couple of leaves.  This reminds me of my mother's saying "No good deed goes unpunished"  Cause there I was wandering just slightly from the path to grab a few when something smacks the side of my face and stings the not out of me. And then another and it dawns on me "Holt Sh*! I've stirred up a hornets nest. So I am running off swatting and swinging while asking them to cut it out, you know the drill. Amazingly enough and praise God by the way they did as I asked and  within a few yards I was not pursued anymore but had about 5 stings and three really good ones. Two to my leg and one on my left cheek. At this point I am thinking two things 1) I don't seem to be allergic because my throat isn't swelling up and 2) thank God I work in radio because the welt on my face hurt like heck and was swelling up like a balloon.

So I get home and fire up the Kindle to see what if any remedy there might be to reduce the pain. I found a site that said white vinegar, which thankfully I always keep on hand, a cotton ball and a band aid to hold them in place. So after washing as directed I did as I was told and was amazed at how quickly it stopped hurting.  The site explains that many stings have a poison the is very alkaline and that the vinegar neutralizes it.

Then a few hours later what really shocked me was that the welts were gone leaving nothing but a pale red dot where I had been stung. So my advice to you for this situation and what seems to be many more according to Readers Digest, pick up some white vinegar, it is cheap and keep it in the house cause you just never know.
