A scenic motorcycle ride this Saturday will benefit a Beal College student who lost part of his leg in an accident earlier this summer. Ryan McGregor was riding his motorcycle on Route 2 in Milford in June when the driver of a car turned into the path of his bike.

Beal College Medical Assisting Instructor Angela Parks says the ride was organized by his classmates and friends.

"We really just wanted to give back to him and recognize not only a fellow medical assisting student but also a member of the motorcycle community," Angela told me. When I asked her how he's doing, she replied, "He's got probably one of the strongest spirits I know. There's going to be very little that's going to keep him down. He's already talking about his next motorcycle."

The ride will begin at the Beal College parking lot and will travel down Rout 1A to Prospect, across the Penobscot Narrows Bridge, up through Bucksport, and then over the Veterans Remembrance Bridge into Bangor.

Check in is at 8am and the ride begins at 9. They’re asking for $10 per bike, with any other donations accepted as well. For more information, log onto the Ryan McGregor Benefit Ride page on Facebook.
