Looks like Boston Dynamics is at it again. From the same guys that picked on robot dogs comes a newer biped model to push around. I think it is funny how it always bugs me just a little to see them shove it over on it’s face. Maybe because when it is walking through the woods it put me to mind of a friend I used to hang out with after we’d had a few too many. Regardless, the uses of this robot are obvious, some good and some unintentionally bad.

According to Boston Dynamics “Atlas” is run electrically using hydraulics and sensors to give it awareness of its surroundings. Weighing in at 180 and about 5’9’ I am pretty sure it could kick my butt indoors or outdoors so they say. What I can’t tell but I surmise is that it is being run kind of like a remote control car.

Atlas is interesting to say the least. No Terminator vibe here but I could see it taking someone’s job.

What do you think?
