Here's your chance to get up close and personal with a real operating railroad!

The Downeast Scenic Railroad will hold its first ever "Touch A Train" event on Saturday June 21st at the train's railroad yard on the Washington Junction Road just beyond the Ellsworth Town line!.

The railroad will have its engine, caboose, passenger and freight cars on display. It's a real great opportunity for a kid or maybe the kid in you to sit in the engineer's chair of a real operating locomotive! Folks from the Railroad will even give you a free ride on their "track car", the small powered car used to transport maintenance workers up and down the line!

The New England Steam Corporation will display the bell from Maine Central steam locomotive #470 currently located in Waterville and soon to be on it's way to Ellsworth for restoration.

The town of Hancock will also have it's firetrucks on display.

The event is rain or shine and happens between 9am and 12 noon on Railroad Siding Road, just off the Washington Junction Road at the beginning of the Downeast Sunrise Trail. There is no admission charge!
