Back in late April we reported that "Walton", a puppy who had just been taken in at the Animal Welfare Society in West Kennebunk.had been stolen.  Well good news today, Walton has been found and returned!

Today, the Society's website says this:  Thanks to the fantastic investigation work of Sanford Police and Animal Control Officer Lauren Masellas, Walton has been safely returned to AWS! He is currently recuperating and seems thrilled to be back. The AWS appreciates all those that called, put up posters, sent e-mails, and shared  information leading to Walton's safe return. In addition, we're excited to announce that Walton has already lined himself up a pre-approved new home.

Tips from area people led Officer Masellas to the woman who had stolen Walton and charges are pending.  Masellas said, "she had been telling area businesses that she thought (the dog) was going to be euthanized".

Other than being thin and quite hungry, Walton is doing well and after a couple of weeks will be available for adoption.
