Most people who know me know that I am a avid bunny lover and proud owner of a well trained cuddly bundle of fluff named "Bella" shown above.  So it was just a matter of time until I made it down to Cottontail Cottage - Rabbit Rescue in Lamoine ________________________________________________________________________________

I had read about the shelter quite awhile ago in the BDN and have been planning a trip ever since.

When we arrived last Saturday even though the rescue wasn't officially open I was welcomed in with  a warm volunteer smile from Angel and many curious bunny faces.

ontail Cottage is currently home to 40 bunnies, 2 goats, chickens, 3 guinea pigs, a Degu  and a Welch corgi pu

p called Sir Timothy who were all taking turns playing outside in the fresh air.  The barn was impeccably clean and I absolutely loved that almost all the bunnies had a pal in the cage for company.  I know happy bunnies and trust me these bunnies know they are loved.

I was also impressed with the care they are given daily and the care that goes into allowing someone to adopt these fellows.  Bunnies are wonderful pets but take a very special kind of person willing to invest time in making a safe place for them to be and then time with the animals themselves.  They aren't demanding of attention like dog and cats can be but they need it just as much. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Their mission from their webpage really says it all: "together, we can save somebunny today." Cottage Rabbit Rescue is a non-profit organization and Maine's first and only licensed rabbit shelter, located at Cottontail Cottage in Lamoine. We are run entirely by volunteers, dedicated to rescuing abandoned, neglected or surrendered rabbits and finding them loving, forever homes. Our orphaned rabbits are provided with physical and social rehabilitation and sanctuary at the "Bunny Barn", until they are deemed fit to be matched with qualified adoptees or foster homes. We seek to educate the public on the care for these beautiful creatures, as well as the importance of spay and neuter.

In my estimation, anyone who loves bunnies can feel good donating to this organization and or adopting from this rescue.

Imagine the fun!
