Bangor Brewery Celebrating Girl Scout Cookie Palooza With Sweet Treats!
Girls Scout Cookies: It's hard to find folks who don't love them. Highly anticipated, each year folks clamor to make sure they've ordered enough to satisfy their sweet tooth.
Everyone's got their favorite flavor.
These delicious cookies have even inspired some local breweries to create complimentary concoctions to pair with these yearly yummies.
In Freeport, local beer makers at Mast Landing have come up with a line of Girl Scout Cooke Beer Flavors.
Closer to Bangor, there's a brewery that's celebrating the Scouts by baking!
2 Feet Brewing on Colombia Street, has been cranking out cakes inspired by the different cookie flavors. They're calling it their "Girl Scout Cookie Palooza!"
Co-owner and resident baker, Nit-Noi Ricker, who is known locally for the amazing desserts she bakes daily to sell at the brewery, says she was excited to honor an organization that means a lot to her.
"...When I was little there wasn’t any Girl Scouts troop around so my dad sent me to Boy Scouts with my brothers…, until I think I was eight when a Brownie troop finally opened up and I got to join it. Growing up on a farm in Winterport with 4 brothers and no mother, made that opportunity wicked wonderful."
Ricker says while in the past she has created a cake or two inspired by the cookies, this year she figured she'd go all out and do a bunch, and she's been having a blast doing so!
"2 Feet makes a daily dessert anyway so adding Girl Scout Cookies is fairly easy. We make GS cookie cakes every year because we like to support the organization, so this year we just expanded on that."
"The first 8 cakes were ‘cookie copies’ and now I’m getting the opportunity to mix it up."
"Yesterday I made a strawberry shortcake-style cake with the French toast cookies."
"Today, I’m making a lemon blackberry cake with Fluff frosting that will have lemonade cookies on them."
"It takes approximately 3 hours to make and frost a cake, if you have all your ingredients on hand."
"Planning is key, and making sure your eggs and other ingredients are at room temperature makes a huge difference."
"I went all out because I couldn’t imagine making just one type of dessert for an entire month, especially since there are so many different varieties of Girl Scout cookies."
And they're absolutely mouth-watering! I happened by there the day she made the thin-mint cake and oh my goodness!
But don't just take my word for it. Feel free to find out just how "next level" these creations are for yourself.
