2019 North American Wife Carrying Championship This Saturday

One of the most unique sporting events on the planet will be held this Saturday here in Maine.

What are you doing this Saturday? How about going to the 2019 American Wife Carrying Championship and checking out the beautiful foliage along the way?  Hey, what other event gives you the wife's weight in beer and five times her weight in cash as the grand prize?

The is the 20th annual event and it'll happen once again this Saturday, October 12th, beginning at 10 a.m. at Sunday River Resort in Newry, about a two and a half hour drive from Bangor.  Admission is free.

This year's course is 278 yards long, and includes obstacles like hurdles, a mud pit, and a run uphill in sand.
