A man and woman from Hancock County are behind bars this evening, after being arrested in connection with what authorities say was an attempted robbery and kidnapping.

According to a press release put out by the Ellsworth Police Department, they received a 911 just after 9 PM Thursday evening from a home on North Street.

The caller reported that she had just returned to her home after being robbed by a man and a woman, at knifepoint and that they had pepper-sprayed her.

When police arrived, they called for EMS to evaluate the victim, who did not need to be transported to the hospital. They also determined that the suspects had fled the scene.

After investigating the situation  with the Hancock County Sheriff's Department,
Ellsworth PD says they caught up with the couple in question during a traffic stop along Route 230 in Trenton at about 9 AM Friday.

"As a result of the investigation, Ryan E. Miller (40) of Tremont was taken to the Hancock County Jail and booked in on charges of; Robbery Class A, Kidnapping Class B, Criminal Threatening w/ a Dangerous Weapon Class C, Assault Class D, Theft Class C, and Violation of Conditions of Release Class E.

Jennifer Hunt (47) of Southwest Harbor was arrested and transported to the Hancock County Jail and booked in on charges of; Robbery Class A, Kidnapping Class B, Criminal Threatening w/ a Dangerous Weapon Class C, Assault Class D, and Theft Class C."

The officers were able to recover some of the stolen items from the car the couple had been driving in, and at a residence at which they had recently stayed.
