You Can Actually Drive Behind The Airport Mall Now Without Murdering Your Car
It's possible I'm pretty late to this party.
For years, when I lived off of Broadway in Bangor, the Union Street Hannaford was my go-to spot. And I would also often frequent Ocean State Job Lots and Marshall's. If my wife and I were just in Marshall's looking for whatever, we'd usually make the mistake of heading around the back of the building.
It was the worst. You literally felt like you were putting your car in unreal danger every time you went back there. It wasn't just the sheer number of potholes, but also the depth. Everything back there seemed designed to swallow cars whole. The ultimate kicker though, after all that, they had the audacity to put speed bumps at the end. As if you didn't just navigate whole back lot full of them.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I drove through over the weekend.
My wife and I were out running errands, and decided to take a jaunt through Ocean State. And it's funny, because when we left, she started to pull around the back of the building and it was like a slow-motion scene in a movie with my arms outstretched, screaming "Nooooooooooo!!!!!"
I expected us to disappear down some gigantic hole in the parking lot. I even thought of texting my mom and telling her I loved her, and that she could donate all my music equipment to charity... But instead, we pulled around the corner and I was witness to a sea of brandy-new black hot top. It was so crazy and unexpected, hahaha.
So I just wanted to bring some attention to the situation, because I literally knew people who avoided that whole area because navigating the parking lot was so crazy. Again, I could be pretty late to the party. This may have been fixed last June, who knows? But I know I could hardly contain my excitement in the moment! Go check it out yourself.
