
One Child Dead, Another In Critical Condition Following Hit-And-Run In Albion, Maine
Maine State Police say a motorist struck an adult and two children on the Hussey Hill Road in Albion Friday evening and then fled the scene. The incident took place just after 5 PM, leaving one child dead and the other child and adult fighting for their lives, authorities say.
"The adult victim, 33-year-old Mollie Egold of Albion, was transported from the scene via LifeFlight to the hospital with serious injuries... One of the minors was also transported via LifeFlight and remains in critical condition. The second minor was pronounced deceased at the scene. "
We're told that at last check, Egold's condition had stabilized.
Maine State Police were able to locate the driver, a 44-year-old man from Albion named Benjamin Lancaster. He was operating the 2016 Hyundai Veloster that authorities say struck the trio, and then took off.

He was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence Causing Death, and 2 Counts of Operating Under the Influence Causing Serious Bodily Injury. He was also charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Death, and also 2 Counts of Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Serious Bodily Injury.
Authorities are asking anyone in the area of 60 Hussey Hill Road or Main Street in Albion who may have had a surveillance camera going Friday afternoon to check their footage for video involving the white Hyundai. The timeframe they are looking for is Friday between 5:00 and 5:15 PM.
