Aroostook County Woman Charged in Shooting

Police say a Littleton woman has been charged after a shooting was reported Sunday night at her home.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m. Sunday, police were called to a home on the Foster Road in Littleton to a report of a man being shot, according to Aroostook County Sheriff Darrell Crandall.

Sheriff's Deputies and State Troopers responded together and confirmed the report. The 52-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Houlton Regional Hospital and was later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Deputies arrested 62-year-old Margaret Barnes late Sunday night, charging her with elevated aggravated assault. Barnes lives in the same home with the alleged victim, and was taken into custody there, Crandall said.

Additional details are not being released at this time. Detectives from the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office and Maine State Police are working together on the ongoing criminal investigation.
