Sometimes you never know what you're going to find.
Update: The family has been found! Below is the original story.
By the way, the article photo is not of the actual box items, just to be clear...
I've heard stories all my life, of people opening items they bought from stores and finding all sorts of different things inside. Whether it's a tarantula in bananas, or rocks, or just straight-up empty. But one Bangor man's recently purchased ceiling fan had more than he bargained for.
According to a Facebook post from the Bangor Police Department, a Bangor man went into Lowe's recently to purchase a ceiling fan. When the man popped open the box to install the fan, he discovered all sorts of things. He found family photos and an envelope that had "Grandpa G's Ashes" written on the outside of the envelope.
So how did this even happen?
The images imply it's possible this family was Canadian, but it's hard to be sure. The working theory for how the box ended up at Lowe's, was that maybe the items were being stored in the box, and were accidentally returned. And sadly, right now, it's looking like it could be difficult to determine who the items belong to.
But that's the importance of getting this story out there. Spreading the idea around may help identify the folks who lost their family treasures. The Bangor Police will be holding onto the box, so if you know these folks, or perhaps even are these folks, you can contact the Bangor PD to reunite with your family's lost items.
This really could be a true Christmas miracle. Let's hope it is.
