Bangor's chapter of the suicide prevention society is raising awareness and donations for education and support. This Sunday you can join your friends and neighbors for the walk in the "Out of the Darkness Walks."

These effort bring together nationwide hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.

Thanks to Walkers and Donors AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20-percent by 2025.

The walk will take place this Sunday at 10 AM - 2PM from the Darlings Waterfront Pavilion on Railroad Street in Bangor. Click here to register. Or if you are busy, click here to donate.

So many of our local families live with the pain and finality of suicide. Let's join together that all those who struggle with self harm see the better options, love and the needed support to rise above.
