This is a great idea. Since the hands-free law went into effect on Sept 19, everyone has been barraged with "Don't touch your phone" and "go hands free".

As we all know many cars come with a hands-free option but getting is set up can be frustrating and time consuming. So kudos to the Bangor PD for doing something to help you out.

If the task of syncing your phone with your automobile is something you have been avoiding next Monday is your day to get things taken care of with a little help.
The Hands Free Event will happen at Quirk Auto 293 Hogan Road from 3-7 p.m. on Oct. 7.

Both Quirk and Bangor PD folks will be there to help you make it all work together. They ask that you bring the car's manual along with your phone. And although there may be a system that stumps them their opinion is that this crew is tech savvy enough to figure most systems out and make you safe and legal.

I loved what they said in their post:

Contrary to popular belief- we are hopeful to never need to write a ticket for a violation of this offense. We thought this might make it easier for some of you.

It is a rain or shine event, so stop by on Monday October 7th between 3 P.M. and 7 P.M. and we might be able work this out together.
