Here's your bird lesson of the day.

Crows "dive-bomb" humans this time of the year.  No, it's not because of that left over piece of ham found stuck in your teeth, it's because they're protecting their young.

Crows release their young from the nest In the late spring and early summer, and like any proud parents they keep a very watchful eye on their young.

According to an UPI article, crows will swoop and dive to scare away intruders and predators.

Wildlife Professor John Marzluff says, "The young aren't very good at flying and hiding yet, so they come in close contact with people."

The most intelligent birds in the sky do this to mainly scare you and rarely come in contact with humans, but they may.

I take pleasure in feeding the crows every morning.  They wait for me in the trees above, and take their time moving in for the prize that I've left on the ground.

After reading this, guess I better wear a helmet tomorrow morning.
