Brewer Man Charged With Dragging Dog Behind Truck

A Brewer man was charged with cruelty to animals after he dragged his leashed dog behind his pickup truck on Tuesday, Brewer Public Safety Director Jason Moffitt said in a press release on Wednesday.

Jeffrey Mayhew, 31, is accused of dragging his leashed 14-week-old bulldog down Wilson Street.

He also was charged with violation of conditions of release. He was out on bail following an OUI arrest on May 17.

The dog was taken to a local veterinary clinic for treatment of injuries to its paws and legs.
