What Flavor Will Win The Dairy Port's March Madness Bracket?

One of the last local holdouts to open for the season, Bucksport's iconic 'Dairy Port' is gearing up to start serving its legendary soft-serve again soon.

The ice cream stand will officially open for its 72nd season on Saturday, March 28th.

It sits right on the corner of Main Street, and each year in honor of "March Madness," the owners put together an ice-cream bracket to see which will win the top spot as their signature "Opening Weekend" flavor.

Hundreds of people have cast their votes already, and it appears they've narrowed it down to either Chocolate Peanut Butter or Orange Dream.

While they specialize in so many flavors of soft-serve, Dairy Port also carries dozens of Gifford's Ice Cream flavors for those looking for hard-serve options, as well.

To say folks are excited for the return of this beloved Buckport business would be an understatement. One has to look no further than the comment section of their Facebook Page to see how people really feel.

"I can feel the seasonal depression leaving my body reading this," wrote one person.

"There are many different things, sights, sounds, odors, taste etc that say 'Home' to people. Each person likely has their own things that say it to them. Some may even share the same things with others. In Bucksport, it’s safe to say one set of items is the 'Dairy Port'," says another.
