Worth The Drive: Check Out This Halloween Display In Canaan, Maine
For several years now, a man from Canaan has been going "all out" to create holiday displays that are both family-friendly and picture-worthy.
Elmer Holmes is his name. And he started "Elmer's Christmas Wonderland" as a Christmas display back before the pandemic. It has since grown to span two holidays now: Christmas AND Halloween.
Holmes uses dozens of holiday inflatables to create a larger-than-life experience for families to stroll through, weather permitting.

This year's Halloween display is up and ready to go. It's located just under an hour outside of Bangor, at 1955 Hill Road in Canaan.

And by all accounts, it's totally worth the drive outside of town.

The hours of operation, according to the Elmer's Christmas Wonderland Facebook Page, run from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM during the week, and from 2:30 PM to 8:30 PM on weekends. The only time the display shuts down is when there's high wind or rain expected. You can follow the page on Facebook for updates and to share your pictures.
When asked why he goes through the trouble of putting together an experience like this, and opening it to the public, Holmes simply commented, " The smiles on the kids make it all worthwhile. "
There is no cost to visit Elmer's Christmas Wonderland, but they do accept donations.
