Operations Specialist 3rd Class Christopher Ethier, from Old Town, is assigned to Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Antietam (CG 54).

Here is a photo of Christopher standing watch in the ship’s combat information center. Antietam is on patrol with the George Washington Carrier Strike Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations in support of stability and security in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.

We thank Christopher for his outstanding service to our country and our state!!

In a press release from the U.S. Navy Office of Community Outreach they explain "Why Being There Matters."

"On our planet, more than 70 percent of which is covered by water, being there means having the ability to act from the sea. The Navy is uniquely positioned to be there; the world's oceans give the Navy the power to protect America's interests anywhere, and at any time. Your Navy protects and defends America on the world's oceans. Navy ships, submarines, aircraft and, most importantly, tens of thousands of America's finest young men and women are deployed around the world doing just that. They are there now. They will be there when we are sleeping tonight. They will be there every Saturday, Sunday and holiday this year.  They are there around the clock, far from our shores, defending America at all times."

Here at I-95 we are always happy to highlight and support our courageous men and women of the U.S. Military!  Feel free to send a photo of a family member that is currently serving in our armed forces and we may feature them just like we did Christopher today!  Our email address is:  I95@MidMaine.com.
