Johnny Cueto has had an up and down season since his trade to the Kansas City Royals, Wednesday he was up and went the distance to help the the Royals beat the New York Mets 7-1.

The win gives the Royals a 2 games to none lead in the best of seven series. Cueto and Mets starter Jacob deGrom had a pitching duel going for the first three innings until the Mets plated a run in the 4th inning to take the first lead of the game. Kansas City then put a 4-run inning together in the 5th and took the lead for good on an Eric Hosmer single that plated two runs.

Cueto only allowed 2 hits in the game while walking two and striking out four. deGrom only lasted 5 innings for the Mets after giving up 4 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks.

The series now shifts to New York for game 3 on Friday.
