Strong winds this morning have brought down trees and power lines, while also making driving difficult in the heavy rain.

As of 10:23 this morning, Emera Maine is reporting over 38,000 customers in Eastern Maine without service.  The company is working feverishly to identify the problem areas and get power restored to those without.

Currently at this hour, the RainWise gear on the summit of Cadillac Mountain is reporting an average wind speed form the south of a little over 14 mph, with a the latest gust clocking in at 23 mph.  A gust of 49 mph on McFarland Hill was recorded at 7:58 this morning.

The National Weather Service has a high wind warning in effect until 12 noon today. Expect gust up to 45 mph at times. The winds should be calm by tonight, according to the latest NWS forecast.
