It won't have a talking moose or rocking chairs with checkerboards out front, but hey,  there's nothing bad about ice cream and burgers.

Long-time residents of Ellsworth remember when Dairy Queen once sat where the UPS Store is now, across from TD Bank on High Street.  It's been years since the eat-in Dairy Queen was there.  Then, stories appeared several years ago when Dairy Queen was rumored to be returning to High Street.  At that time it was thought that it would eventually appear further up the road towards downtown, next to Cadillac Mountain Sports.

Well, now it's official, a Dairy Queen Grill & Chill will be built in the now vacant lot where Dow Pontiac once stood long ago, right next to McDonalds.  That lot is owned by the same company that owns the Maine Coast Mall, and a new access road will be built so that folks can travel between the Mall parking lot and that of the new restaurant.

Dairy Queen Grill & Chill's MENU will feature GrillBurgers, turkey BLTs, BBQ pulled pork, chili dogs, ice cream and frozen cakes, among other features.

The same company that owns the Dairy Queen on Wilson Street in Brewer will own the new 2500 square foot restaurant.  No date of completion has been announced.
