Think you can bellow like Bigfoot?

The folks at Damon's Beverage on Hogan Road in Bangor are holding a special contest this weekend, if you want to give it your best shot! There are even prizes on the line for the best call, according to their social media post!

"Come to Damon’s on 700 Hogan Rd in Bangor from 1-3 and taste 2 rums from Arbor Distillery, based in Norridgewock, Maine. At 2 pm, we will have a Sasquatch Calling Contest! Make your best Sasquatch call, and our experienced judges will rate the best call!"

It's handy that there's a rum tasting before the contest, to help you lubricate and loosen those vocal cords.

If you're unfamiliar with what a Bigfoot call would sound like, here are some examples of audio captured from "actual" encounters.

While it seems as though it would be hard to replicate some of those sounds, there are sasquatch calling contests all over the place. Here are some examples of people trying to imitate Bigfoot calls.

If you're a fan of the "Big" guy, you also might want to put this on your calendar.

Creepy Maine Cryptids

The state is remote with lots of fields, forests, rivers, and lakes -- all of which can be home to the elusive creatures in the gallery below. The photos below were generated by artificial intelligence from documented descriptions of the cryptids. Come on. How else are we supposed to get photos of such elusive -- and maybe mythical? -- creatures?
