Looking For Love? Here’s How You Could Be Part Of Maine’s New Reality Dating Show ‘The Maine Attraction’
While the state of Maine is known for its beautiful ocean views and vast pine forests, for lobsters, blueberries, mountains and lighthouses, Maine is NOT known for being a great "date" state.
Unfortunately, as far as demographics go, Vacationland usually falls at the top of the list for having one of the "older" populations in the nation, where the number of people who die in a year is higher than the number of people born.
It's also disproportionate in it's ratio of people to space, with a few ultra-concentrated populations of people in bigger cities like Bangor and Portland, but vast areas of land in the rural parts of the state where very few live.
Historically, the younger population has been opting to leave the state after graduation, and not return to Maine until retirement, if at all.
So how are young singles in this area supposed to find love, and hopefully settle down here, to keep Maine moving forward?
Well, one local group of producers/content creators is hoping they have an answer to that question that will be one part educational, one part a boost to the economy and one part entertainment for all!

Brewer entrepreneur, Soubanh Phanthay, has assembled a production team that will be filming a Maine-based dating show called 'The Maine Attraction'.
The premise of the program, which will be aired on YouTube, is to show off all the cool stuff Maine has to offer people while helping young singles who are ready to make real connections, cut through the noise of the typical online dating platforms and apps.
Phanthay says it’s not just about finding love, it’s about building real connection, community, and unforgettable moments.
“'The Maine Attraction,' a locally produced reality dating show, is officially opening casting for its inaugural season and inviting businesses to partner in what aims to become Maine’s most talked-about entertainment series. Blending modern dating formats with authentic relationship-building experiences."
If you think you'd like to give the show a go, they're currently looking for men and women ages 21 to 35 who live or work in Maine. These individuals should be "dynamic, genuine individuals ready to take a chance on love in a fun, filmed environment."
Phanthay says you don't have to have any acting experience to be considered, just personality and authenticity.
Once the cast has been determined, couples will be filmed going on dates in locations all over the state of Maine.
The couples will also talk to Maine-based professionals about relationship and career advice, while getting to know each other at mixer events organized by the show's "date keeper" Patricia Schimpf, who will be helping to design the dates.
