Towards the end of Foo Fighters' April 19 show at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston, Dave Grohl noticed a fan in the pit holding a sign that read “No Dad – Be Mine?” The frontman addressed the fan, “What? Dude, I have three kids. You wanna be my fourth kid? Grohl said, “This song is older than you. For the next four minutes, I’ll be your daddy.” He paused then added, "Believe me, I ain't no life coach, but I'll rock your ass."

The band launched into laid-back version of “Big Me,” dedicated to the fan, whose name is Landon Mabe. Watch the fan shot video in the player above.

According to the Houston Press, Mabe is a student attending Rice University. He received the ticket to the show as a Christmas gift and felt he had to get Grohl’s attention at the concert. “Dave Grohl is like, my idol,” he told the publication, adding, “So I think, hey, let me make a sign and I felt like it would get his attention. I didn’t want to show it in the beginning, so I did it in the end and it worked out."

Towards the end of the emotional performance the video screen behind the band showed a split image of Grohl and the fan singing to each other, “It’s you / I fell into.” As the song ended Grohl invited Mabe on stage to give him a hug. The overwhelmed fan took the mic and said, "I hope this is the best show that you've ever been to 'cause it certainly is for me." Mabe watched the rest of the show from the side of the stage before being invited backstage to hang with the band.

The 20-year-old fan walked away with the show’s setlist, some of Grohl’s sweatbands, Foo Fighters guitar picks and a photo of himself with Grohl’s iconic blue Gibson guitar.

Last week, Dave Grohl invited a fan in Kiss make-up on stage to play guitar on “Monkey Wrench,” the fan laid down such an incredible solo that Grohl was rendered speechless and actually forgot the lyrics to the song.

The Foos will take the stage in West Palm Beach, Florida tonight (April 26). Check out all their tour dates here.
