The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office has identified the three individuals involved in a deadly crash that took place just before 7 PM on Wednesday, September 30th.

According to authorities, 67-year-old Kendall Thompson of Dixmont was driving a Chrysler sedan, with 68-year-old Patricia Thompson in the passenger's seat. They were heading east on or near Route 7 near Plymouth Pond. 69-year-old Timothy Malo of Newport was driving his Hyundai Santa Cruz west when the vehicles collided.
"An early investigation indicates Malo's vehicle crossed the center line and struck the Thompson's vehicle in the eastbound lane. As a result of the crash, both vehicles left the roadway and came to rest in Plymouth Pond. All three occupants were transported to the hospital; sadly, Mrs. Thompson passed away from her injuries sustained during the crash."

The Sheriff's office is still looking into the matter and trying to "determine what charges will be filed in this investigation."

We will update this story once those decisions are made.
