It's been a tense evening in Pisacataquis County as authorities in Dover-Foxcroft are actively searching for an individual they believe to be armed and dangerous, and have asked residents to shelter in place.

The Dover-Foxcroft Police first issued the warning around 7:00 Friday evening.

"ALL RESIDENTS WHO LIVE/WORK IN THE VICINITY OF W. MAIN STREET BY AE ROBINSONS ATV TRAIL AND PINE ST NEED TO SHELTER IN PLACE.
LAW ENFORCEMENT ARE SEEKING A SUBJECT WHO IS CONSIDERED ARMED AND DANGEROUS."

At 11 PM, they released another statement identifying the individual they are searching for.

"The Dover-Foxcroft Police Department is currently seeking the whereabouts of Ryan T. Mooreside, 36, of Dover-Foxcroft. The Dover-Foxcroft Police Department is seeking Mooreside in connection with an incident that occurred earlier today. Mooreside was last seen in the area of W Main St in the area of the Irving gas station. Mooreside is considered armed and dangerous at this time. "

Members of the Maine State Police, the Maine Warden Service, the Dover-Foxcroft Police, and the Piscataquis County Sheriff's Office have been searching the area, including local ATV trails, on foot with support from K-9 Units and by helicopter.

As of 10 PM, the investigation was still ongoing, and the person was still at large.

We're told it's been an all-hands-on-deck situation, with multiple state and local agencies and community members on hand, keeping a close watch out for Moorside.

Authorities say if you do see or encounter Moorside, do not approach him. Instead, call the police immediately. You can dial 911, or call the Piscataquis County Dispatchers at 207-564-3304 ext 1.
