Penobscot Maritime Heritage Association Plans August Drone Shows For Bucksport & Brewer

July 4th has come and gone, and you may have thought that we were all done celebrating America's 250th. But there's plenty more to do, and some exciting things planned for folks in Eastern Maine.

While many communities across Maine marked the 250th anniversary of America's independence with fireworks shows, two towns that sit along the Penobscot River are about to host a different kind of spectacular light show, this one featuring drones!

There will be two events, one in Bucksport on the evening of Saturday, August 1st. The second show will take place in Brewer the next evening, Sunday, August 2nd. Both shows will start at 8:45.

The Penobscot Maritime Heritage Association is hosting the drone shows.

"Instead of fireworks, 300 drones will be flying over the Penobscot River for 2 awesome 10-15 minute aerial light shows celebrating America's 250th birthday! Bring your chairs and cameras and watch from the riverwalks...These shows are weather dependent."

They have set up a Facebook event page for folks to keep an eye on the details, especially as they may change, depending on the weather.

Both shows are free to attend.

The organization is also celebrating America's 250th by bringing in the impressive tall ships that people will be able to board and tour.
