Eastern Maine Emergency Vet Expanding Monday Hours To Daytime

For years, pet owners in Eastern Maine have relied on help from the Eastern Maine Emergency Vet Clinic, when their fur babies have been sick or injured after hours.

The clinic, located at 15 Dirigo Drive in Brewer, is typically open from 5:30 PM until 8 AM.

But that has changed with the expansion of one day in particular opening during regular business hours. They have recently started to provide critical care during the day on Mondays.

The EMEVC shared their news on social media this week.

"We have limited staffing but are here and able to help with urgent care and end of life discussions. Please call ahead so that we can advise you over the phone in case we do have a critical emergency that requires all of our attention! We hope to bring you full emergency care on Monday daytime by summer!"

Wait times for critical care depend on what kind of situations the veterinarians are dealing with, the severity of the nature of what your pet needs, and how many Doctors and staff members are available to help, so daytime services should not take the place of a visit to your regular vet.

But based on the reaction of many to the news, there are a lot of relieved pet owners in Eastern Maine, who appreciate the extended hours on Monday.

Another commented, "Thank you!! We have needed this service in this area for a while....getting to Freeport or Portland is sometimes too far to travel for an emergency!!!"

The Eastern Maine Emergency Vet Clinic is currently one of the only facilities in the area that offers an in-house lab, and ultrasound, can perform emergency surgeries, and also offers end-of-life care, all after 5:30 PM.
