The long-time champion of the crossroads of downeast Maine will be closing up shop at the end of the year, and a new retailer will be moving in.

Ruth Foster, a former mayor of Ellsworth, a four-term state representative and two-term Maine senator, will be closing her famous children's clothing and gift store on Main Street after being in business for 35 years.

Ms. Foster will then volunteer her knowledge and service to the Ellsworth Adult Education Center at the Mill Mall, according to a recent Facebook post.

We wish this great woman all the best with anything that she does going forward, and we thank her for her many years of continued service to both Ellsworth and Maine.
